An Update from Strange Cares
Since its founding eight years ago, Strange Cares has worked to connect the children of St. Louis
with their dreams. Whether it be 5k races or college tuition assistance, we’ve provided financial
support to other child-focused nonprofits in St. Louis to help bridge the gaps that prevent kids
from engaging in the full potential of opportunities available to them.
We want to share with you our plan to evolve as a youth-serving organization focused on
supporting the behavioral and mental health needs of children in our community. We’ve
identified mental and behavioral health as a greater hinderance to youth achieving their
dreams than lack of financial resources for extracurricular and academic activities. The
behavioral and mental health needs of children in our community are at crisis levels.
As a youth-focused nonprofit we decided that we cannot hope for this crisis to pass and
continue to operate at status-quo. We will be bringing our community of supporters, friends,
and fundraising efforts together to provide awareness to the behavioral health needs of
children. We are starting out in our work by providing unrestricted financial support to CHADS
Coalition for Mental Health. CHADS provides counseling services, educational programs,
resources, and presentations to support youth under 25, along with parents and educators, in
the areas of mental health, depression, anxiety, and suicide prevention. We are
excited for this strategic partnership in supporting CHADS’ evidence-based programs that work
together to build support systems and a safety net for children, promoting social emotional well-being and
resilience.
We hope you will continue being part of the Strange Cares team as we evolve to support the
children of our community from a new perspective and approach, ensuring they have the
champions and financial support they need to live their best lives possible.
Be kind, stay strange.
